When you have a large crystal collection (or even a collection of two crystals), you may want to program one or several for a specific purpose. In a previous blog post, I’ve talked about cleansing your crystals so that they vibrate as they were intended to do, but now I want to go a little deeper and teach you how to program them for something special.

Crystal Vibrations

Crystals vibrate and release regular pulses of energy they receive from the Earth. They vibrate to their own natural frequency that is contained within. There is a continuous, uninterrupted flow of energy in a crystal when it’s vibrating at its own natural frequency. To return it to its natural frequency, it should be cleared, not charged.

How to Select a Crystal to Program

Select a crystal that’s metaphysically associated with your purpose for programming. You may want to program a rose quartz to manifest a partner or soul mate. Or a green aventurine to bring in abundance. Maybe you have a black tourmaline pendant that you want to program for protection. A crystal bracelet is perfect for programming and it’s easy to wear on a daily basis. Use your intuition to pick out the crystal to use.

If you choose a quartz crystal, a power stone, you can program it for anything you like, such as healing, attracting abundance, good health, protection . . . anything! The crystal you program should be one that you’ll be using for this specific purpose for a long time. Maybe you’ll use it in a crystal grid, or wear it as a pendant or ring on a daily basis.

How to Clear Your Crystal

As you prepare to program a crystal, you will first want to clear it of any unwanted energy it may be holding. It may have the energy from a previously programmed use or exposure to a negative energy. If it’s a new stone for you, it should be cleared of any energy that it may have picked up along its journey to you. From the person who dug up the crystal, to the store where it was bought, many hands have touched the crystal and the crystal will carry those energies. So clearing the crystal will return it to its pure and natural state for a fresh start.

Two Ways to Clear a Crystal:

1. Visualization + Intention – Hold it in your receiving hand (usually your left hand if you’re right-handed) and set your intention to clear the crystal. While your holding it, visualize a white light washing over the stone and washing away any negativity. With intention, say the words, “I ask that this crystal be cleansed and cleared of any past programming or energies that do not serve its highest good.” This is the easiest way to clear a crystal because it can be done anywhere at any time.
2. Reiki – If you’re a Reiki practitioner, you can clear a crystal using your Reiki symbols and energy. After bringing in your Reiki energy, in whatever manner you’re accustomed to doing, run your hands over the crystal with the intention of removing any negativity or energy that does not serve its highest good. Do this for 30 seconds.

How to Program Your Crystal

When you want a crystal to do more than what its metaphysical healing properties intend it to do, then it’s time to program it for a very specific purpose.

1. Find a quiet place and take several deep breaths to go into a meditative state of mind.
2. Bring yourself into alignment by clearing your Chakras, Aura, Ida and Pingala, Screens, and any Cords you may have as attachments.
3. Set your intention to bring yourself into alignment and raise your vibration. You may want to write down your intention on a piece of paper.
4. Hold the crystal in your receiving hand (usually the left if you’re right-handed) and quiet your mind.
5. Set your intention for the energies going into the crystal to be of your greatest good.
6. Focus on the goal, desire, or intention to program the crystal for a specific function.
7. Be very specific as to what you want this crystal to do for you whenever you wear it, hold it, or carry it.
8. Move the crystal to your other hand and send out the intentions and vibrations to the Universe with gratitude.
9. Take a deep cleansing breath and send out a heartfelt thank you!

In Conclusion

Once programmed, your crystal is ready to get to work! Your intention for its use will be sent out to the Universe.
