I cherish using my pendulum to seek answers and enjoy the loving connection we have. When there’s a question I need guidance with I ask my pendulum a question that can be answered with "yes" or "no," and sometimes I get a "maybe." The energy guiding the answer comes from within myself, but it’s deep within my subconscious.
If you have a connection with your Spirit guides, they will assist... if you just ask.
How to Identify Your Pendulum's "Yes" "No" and "Maybe" Answers
I've personally owned two pendulums and have used several pieces of jewelry as pendulums whenever I needed a quick answer. They all have answered the same way for me every single time, so I've come to assume that it's a person's own energy that dictates how a pendulum will swing, no matter what pendulum they use.
To identify how your energy responds to "yes, "no," and "maybe," you can begin by resting your elbow on a stable table while holding the top of your pendulum so it can swing freely (I recommend using your dominant hand.)
To steady the pendulum, take your other hand and slide it down the chain to the crystal on the end. While you are doing this, think about sending your energy into it.
Now you can begin asking it questions to find out which way it will swing to a "yes" or "no" answer.
To find out which way means "yes" you can ask your pendulum a question you already know the answer to, such as "Is my name ________?" Take note of which way the pendulum is swinging. For me, mine would sway side to side for "yes" and front to back for "no".
Some people find that "yes" is up and down, like nodding your head yes and "no" is side to side like when you shake your head no. My pendulum will circle clockwise when it is an emphatic "YES!"
At some point I discovered that my pendulum would start swinging clockwise or counterclockwise to some of my questions. I didn't know what these movements meant so I went back on the Internet and discovered that there was also a "maybe" answer!
I asked the pendulum to "Show me maybe" and it started swinging counterclockwise. This could also mean it doesn’t have an answer for my question yet.
I already had the "yes," "no," and "maybe" questions figured out, but I didn't know what the strong clockwise circle meant. To find this out I asked, "Show me a strong yes!" and the pendulum swung frantically clockwise. Now I know!
Now some have said that their pendulum will jump or wiggle to answer a question. I have a friend whose pendulum did just that when the pendulum was answering "maybe." It stopped dead still when it didn’t want to answer a question or it had no answer.
So, you can see that each pendulum is unique to its owner. After you choose your pendulum, give it a little squeeze and speak to it kindly so it will connect with your energy. After several uses, be sure to clear it so it will be in perfect form for the next time you need it.
How to Connect to Your Pendulum to Seek Answers
Ask each question individually while holding your pendulum and either watch it or close your eyes while thinking of your question. Ask for guidance to help if you're familiar with your guides.
The more you use it, the quicker the response to your question. Be patient and give the pendulum time to answer if it seems to be slow in responding.
How to Care for Your Pendulum
Cleansing It
Cleanse it to clear any negative energy the stone has held along its journey to your home. You will want to return it to pure clean energy once again. You can cleanse it either with the smoke of a smudge stick, sweetgrass or palo santo. The sun can also cleanse a stone of negative energy after 6 to 12 hours and it can recharge the stone with positive energy (just make sure your crystal of choice is safe in the sun as the crystal may fade, crack or break.) Rain or salt water are also good ways to cleanse a stone for water-safe stones. Check and make sure!
Charging It
Charge the pendulum’s stone to replenish any energy that has been depleted from another person’s handling or energy, or even after several times using it. This can be done sitting the stone on selenite, citrine, kyanite, or amethyst. The moon’s direct light for 6 to 12 hours or buried under the full moon can also charge your stone.
Dedicating It
Dedicate the pendulum’s stone in a quiet meditative place while holding it in both hands. Focus your thoughts on your purpose for the stone, such as it to be used in love and light and good things for all. You can also add if there is some other purpose you would like to use it, such as protection, healing, or inspiration. End your dedication with the words, “And so be it” to seal your intention.
How to Choose a Pendulum
Select a pendulum that attracts you: it can be the stone’s healing properties, energy feel, or even the shape. You'll just know it's the right one for you when you see it.
Where to Purchase a Pendulum
I recently purchased an assortment of pendulums to sell on my website. There are assorted crystal pendulums, orgonite pendulums, selenite, and copper with chakra stones. A couple of pendulums can be also used as wands.
One is gorgeous with amethyst and quartz crystal points shown above. And there's one called a Clear Quartz Fairy Star Pendulum that has a cluster of quartz that serves as a wand shown below. I chose a good mix of healing stones to help when using a pendulum to seek answers.
Pendulums can also be used to balance chakras and in Reiki healing sessions. I will talk more about this in my blog post coming up about Reiki energy healing. Stay tuned!
