I received my first Tarot Card Deck back in 2012: Feng Shui Tarot by Eileen and Peter Paul Connolly. Since then I have discovered that I absolutely love using this deck and, of course, have formed a special attachment to it, especially since it was my first one.
Recently, however, I have realized that I could offer additional choices of readings for my clients and so I decided to go on a hunt to see what other decks called to me.
In this post, I'm going to discuss my thoughts on choosing the right Tarot Card Deck for a reading with me, for your own personal use or to enrich your own practice.

Searching for New Tarot Card Decks
I've always heard that you shouldn't buy your own deck of tarot cards. If you buy your own cards, the readings come from your own thoughts and feelings, but when gifted with a card deck, the readings come more from intuition and guidance.
With Christmas right around the corner, I thoroughly began researching all kinds of tarot card decks and put some new ones on my Amazon Wish List!
Below are some of the new card decks I've received and have come to love.
The Wild Unknown Tarot
I was so drawn to this deck of cards, but wasn't sure at first. For some reason, I kept coming back to it.
This deck is the total opposite of my Feng Shui Tarot Card Deck. Where my Feng Shui cards are light and combine the traditional elements of Tarot with ancient Chinese wisdom and spiritual beliefs, The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans is a bit darker.
Kim Krans has hand drawn all of these cards after searching for a deck that she could relate to and finding none. She says that she wanted "the imagery to speak to a world of wild nature and mystery . . . a place where the darks are truly dark and the lights are bright and expansive." That is what I love about this deck! The Wild Unknown Tarot covers both the positive and radical things going on in life. It digs into things that are hidden deep inside, then shows you what you need to know.
Lightworker Oracle
I wanted an Oracle deck of quick daily readings, either one card or a past, present, and future spread. I was drawn to the beautiful bright white light of the Lightworker Oracle by Alana Fairchild.
Since I am beginning to think of myself as a lightworker, I loved the messages of guidance and empowerment this deck brings. The artwork is bold and beautiful, and the beginning of the guidebook speaks to those who are healers, lightworkers, energy workers, and spiritual leaders.
The messages from the readings with the Lightworker Oracle deck are deep and insightful. Each card is explained in depth, and then there is an invocation to meditate on. It's an inspiring deck!
The Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck
The Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck by John Holland is very unique!
John Holland is a psychic medium and he therefore has put a twist on a typical deck of Tarot cards. He has included traditional Tarot cards with colors, shapes, and words as well as symbology, divination, numerology, and chakra centers. These cards are so awesome! One of the best things about doing readings with these cards is that I can feel my psychic abilities being heightened and strengthened.
This deck also includes Major Arcana cards that represent the main themes in your life. As a traditional Tarot deck uses "The Fool" as the "0" card, the Psychic Tarot Oracle Deck uses "New Beginnings" in its place. Each card is unique in comparison to the traditional Major Arcana cards.
The Minor Arcana cards are divided into four categories, physical, emotions, mental, and spirit. They relate to the traditional four Tarot suits of pentacles, cups, swords, and wands.
The Chaka cards remind us to be aware of that energy center that may need attention. This type of card is not typical in a traditional Tarot card deck, and therefore gives a deeper meaning to a reading when using this deck.
All in all, this deck has helped me create a delightful variety to choose from for my Tarot and Oracle Card readings!
Queen of the Moon Oracle
Another very unique deck of cards is the Queen of the Moon Oracle by Stacey Demarco.
For Moon Children affected by the moon cycles, this is the perfect deck for you! This deck will give you guidance through the lunar and seasonal energies and will cover your situation as it is, the cause, the obstacles, the resolution, and three actions to resolve the situation.
I find these to be very enchanting cards with moon-related pictures that show vision of the card's meaning as well as a companion stone or metal that can be used for meditation at the end.
I offer a seven-card spread with these cards, which tends to be very thorough and insightful – The cards are highly engaging and the words are very inspiring. I love this deck!
The Crystal Spirits Oracle
This is my most recent deck of cards. Denise, my Energy Worker, suggested these cards for me, as I am very much into crystals and using crystals in my healing sessions. She knew exactly what she was talking about and I have come to love this deck of cards.
The Crystal Spirits Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid brings crystal guidance to a three-card reading. As I am learning to draw more crystallized energy into my practice, this deck is the perfect addition to my growing collection.
These cards give an essential meaning, and then a relationship message, and then a prosperity message. It follows with a meditation inspired by the drawn crystal card, thereby giving a complete past, present, potential future reading. This can also be a reading that represents now, the next right action, and the potential experience you're heading to.
In Conclusion
I am thrilled with the variety of tarot and oracle decks I now have! I offer my readings in a variety of ways, and therefore have something for everyone! If you feel compelled to find out what's going on in your life and possible ways to open yourself to new ways of looking at life, I welcome you to do a reading with me!
I look forward to connecting with like-minded people and sharing what I've learned for your greatest good.
